Wole Soyinka at 86: Eulogies, the stuff of legends!

The Child is the father of Men.
The Child’s legacy lives on, in our eyes now and ever.
The Child whose handwriting speaks now and then.
The Child whose shadow heals African literature.

Can the child who held the front line in Nigeria’s independence, be underated in nationalism and patriotism?
Can the child who saw every moment of coup d’etats and political transition in Nigeria be childish in Nigeria’s political system?
Can the child who saw every blood stain of 1967 Biafra war, be scared of being shot?
Can the child who saw every inch of the old Ibadan during the Penkelemesi years, be a novice of Black history?

Wole Soyinka, the black African child is a year close to the grave.
Wole Soyinka, the black Nobel Laureate whose legacy speaks more than his voice.
Wole Soyinka, the child who bore Men, adds a year to the tally.

Happy birthday, Professor Babatunde Oluwole Soyinka.
