An Interview With The Tribesman Of The Week

By: Oluwalaanumi Blessings

Have you heard about TVO tribesmen community?
Well, the tribesmen community is a network where we as creatives, writers, readers, authors and artists share our stories and experiences. Here we run a weekly writing contest which is aimed
at building our tribesmen not just to become consistent writers, but to become exceptional writers. The winner of this contest is crowned the tribesman of the week.

Agwaze Gift Naomi is a student and is studying Physics in the University of Benin. She is an active member of the tribesmen community and recently emerged as the tribesman of the week. For us to have a taste of the goodness she has to offer, we had her in an interview. This is what she had to say:

Hello Naomi

Hi. Good day

Can I blush please? You mean I’m here with the Tribesman of the week?

(Laughs)You are free to. Yes you are with the tribesman of the week.

Thank you Naomi. My name is Oluwalaanumi Blessings. I am a Tribe Advocate @the Victoriao.com

Wow! An advocate? It nice having you here. I am Agwaze Gift Naomi.
It is a pleasure meeting you too.

As the tribesman of the week, we would like to know the secrets of your writing prowess, are you excited to share some of them with us?

I’m so excited.
Mommy am going to be a celebrity

You can say that again.

Thank you so much.

I think I’ll like to begin with the process of self discovery. What was your process of self discovery like?

I actually started writing when I was in secondary school( for fun though). But I didn’t take it serious until some years back and then I decided to start a blog, but it didn’t last at all (I stopped writing for about two years). Recently when the #say no to rape started trending, I just decided to write something and then it all came back. That was how I rediscovered my self.

A rediscovery indeed. You write so beautifully, one would have thought you’ve been writing for ages. What was the first thing you wrote? What triggered it?

Hmmm. I honestly can’t remember. I happened to misplace all my early write ups.

Oh! I’m sorry about that. Of all the works you’ve written so far, which is your favorite?

Hmmm. I think it is, the one titled ‘Me lady’

I love that poem. I read it over and over.
What was the inspiration behind it?

I just read pride and prejudice and I really love the use of the word ‘M’lady’ and I wanted to write on the beauty of a lady in a way that I won’t have to base it on one shape, colour and other stuff. So basically I wanted to write something that every lady can relate with.

I love the part that says “Her smile is a killer and a resurrector”. Can you give a brief insight to that line.

So I know that a lot of guys use the phrase, ‘she has a killer smile’ but how would you enjoy her goodness if you are already ‘dead’. So, there’s the fact that smiles also revive the soul. That was what basically birthed that line.

You thoughts are broad and that is really nice. As a writer, what specific lesson would you say you’ve learnt so far?

That would be that no idea is useless and that you really can’t do it all alone.

If you were to give up a thing to become a better writer, what will it be?

Procrastination.

Every writer has to deal with this.

Mine is a special kind.

We’ll conduct a special deliverance section for you.

I’m very much open for it.(laughs)

That was on a lighter note. Thanks for being sincere.

You are welcome.

How did you come in contact with the tribesmen community?

A friend sent me the link. And thinking about it, that’s like the best gift I have received. And I am glad I decided to click on the link and get active.

Your friend must be one of those guardian angel that walks people to destiny(smiles).
We are so glad you’re enjoying the community.

I will choose to be here over and over again.

How has your membership in the tribesmen community affected you as a person?

It propels me to always write, especially when I see people posting daily ( I’m always like, these ones don’t have two heads).
It just gives me the vibe to keep writing.

Thanks for your time. We are waiting to see you win more writing awards more from TVO and every other platform in life.

Amen. Thank you so much.
