I USED TO BE UGLY
I used to be ugly,
Riddled in pain,
In this maim you brought to my stage.
I allowed you detoured,
Conjured,
Sat still and wallowed in the after thoughts.
I pushed the feelings to the deep ends,
Hoped it will surpass,
But like a train on an island,
It was stuck, cyclical like these bruises and scar lines.
I used to be ugly,
Well, I used to be.
Not anymore.
Not after coming face to face with the fairly simple concept of walking away.
Not after realizing it doesn’t take a village to realize you’d be the death of me.
And certainly not when this skin became tougher than a dark four door.
I used to be ugly,
Not anymore.
Not when without your warmth I can live and love.
Not when without a thought I can pick me from this rough.
Not when the love you promised is no longer a bargaining chip after all.
I used to be ugly, yes but pretty please, I feel pretty indeed.
Cheers to our Amazing Tribesman Degraft Isaac. We are proud of You!
