Tvotribe, a pan African Community that focuses on advancing the African narrative, is
announcing its relaunch with the tagline #Homeiscalling, and looks to be more than just a
publishing house.
Tvotribe launched first in 2019 with a vision to be a vibrant literary society backed by
events, bootcamps and even literary competitions centered around helping creatives tap
into their potential. Speaking on why she started the community, the CEO, Victoria Olajide
said,
“I started Tvotribe to help other people like myself build their creative interest, their
creative expertise, especially writers at the time because I felt we had so much to tell, but
we had little resources that were attuned to our culture and limited access to stories created
by African storytellers like ourselves.”
Since then, the brand has become a collective voice of storytellers sharing Africa’s true narrative.
But never resting on its oars, the brand is set on more, with its eyes fixed on expanding.
Fueled by its passion to do more, it has honed its vision and aspirations to something more
robust, more aspirational, and more global. The relaunch comes months after The Tribe put
out The Akwaaba Issue, informed by a Twi word spoken by the Akan tribe of Ghana meaning
‘welcome.’ In the call for submissions, it was highlighted that the word symbolizes
acceptance, friendliness and cooperation, coming home and belonging. The issue could not
have come at a more opportune moment.
On its decision of being addressed as The Tribe going forward, Victoria Olajide has stated
that what she really wants is “a safe real united space where creatives can explore their art
and build their interest. I want a space where African storytellers can dare to dream about
all the possibilities that exist in their creative interest.”
Speaking on its release, Marketing Lead, Dammy Ojikutu has stated that
“Our new identity is more than just a name change. With The Tribe, what we’re building is a home where creatives can explore their art and build their interest. We want a space where African
storytellers can dare to dream about all the possibilities that exist in their creative
interests.”
As part of its expansion plan, The Tribe promises to become a mixed society which mediates
perspective and ideologies through conversations that focus on the core essence of being
African. This enhanced platform will see you finding us at the intersection of culture and
community feeding into the different sectors with the centralized message of promoting the
true African essence.
Through our tagline #homeiscalling, we invite you to feel at home with us.
