• Tell us more about you? 

My name is Bamidele Oluwatimilehin Olakunle. I’m 18yrs of age, a native of Ibadan Oyo state and also a friendly and accommodating person.

     I write poems, compose songs and love singing. 

• How long have you been writing for? 

I’ve been over a year since I started writing.

• What was the first thing you thought of when you saw the ad for the contest? 

First thing I thought of when I saw the ad for the contest; “Am I qualified to write for the contest”?

• What does Sankofa mean to you?

Sankofa means ‘Go back and get it’

It is not wrong to go back for that which you have forgotten.

• Tell us about your entry.

FEAR is a poem expressing the trouble in someone who is scared about something.

Also, the cause and the reason why its needed

Sankofa comes in as an adoptive instrument used in overcoming fear

• Did you have any challenges in writing your piece? 

No I did not have any challenges writing my piece.

• What is the future of literature in Africa? 

The future of literature in Africa is a recovery of Africa’s lost humanity and protecting African personality.

• What does being a tribesman mean to you, and how do you think being part of a community will influence African literature.

Being a tribesman, it means being part of the leaders putting in their best as creatives to bring to life the future of Africa.

I think being part of a community will help improve African literature by influencing through exemplary acts, hidden creatives to unleash their creativity and also to help make the future of literature in Africa possible
